In the United States, doing good has come to be, like patriotism, a favorite device of persons with something to sell.

Holy hell, I need to get my shit together and start writing more. I’ve been up to my neck in WordPress development over the past two months, and have found myself more and more impressed with the 3.x version.

First off, custom post types are insanely useful–and fun to boot–to create. I’ve gone the programmatic route rather than to rely on a plugin, like the Custom Post Type UI (although, that would be handy), to create everything. This means I’ve had an awful lot to learn.

In the case of my site here, I switched my portfolio from being based on a category using a hodgepodge of custom fields to a custom post type using custom meta boxes. Getting this all switched over and working has been a tremendous pleasure.

At work I’ve created a video repository that we can use to host whatever videos we need for customer service and tech support.

Also, politics. I’ve sworn off getting too involved in the day to day news. This has kept me fairly level, but made me a bit less interesting. So it is.
