Obsessive Compulsive Updating Disorder

I think I have a disorder. I think I have OCUD*.

Not familiar with this clinical disorder? For the uninitiated and uninformed it is what we call Obsessive Compulsive Updating Disorder. The constant and irrational need to update and refine your website, it’s design, and underlying code is a characteristic symptom. This is merely the updating of a website as opposed to updating your status constantly on social networks which is colloquially referred to as: narcissism.

I find myself, quite often in obsessive fashion, making minor changes to my site’s underlying structure: the theme I built for this site, the xhtml, the css, etc. These changes are largely unnoticeable–they are behind the scenes so to speak–and so, they are seemingly unimportant changes.

In some sense I’m just trying to employ the most efficient methods in accomplishing any particular design and development goal; by employing OCUD, by having the disorder work for me, I am 1000 times more productive than I was while procrastinating.

I make the disorder live with me, not the other way around.

Or perhaps I need help.

*Not a real disorder. I hope.

I updated this article multiple times. You see, it extends even to my writing, linking, and quoting.

It’s sick, and I can’t stop it. Ha.

I would like a part of that disease. Maybe it would help me write papers!

One, it’s not a disease. And two no, it’s a terrible disorder; you’ll never finish papers with this disorder.
